Abstract
Editorial Review:
Today many young men conscientiously object to participation in the armed forces - on political, moral religious or humanitarian grounds - but do not consider themselves to be opposed to "war in any form." Some believe in "wars of liberation"; some believe only in fighting when one's nation is attacked; some believe they would have fought Hitler, and that another such man might rise to power; some are "nuclear pacifists." In one way or another each of these men examines a particular war through the perspective of his own personal beliefs - however he may formulate and express them - to determine whether that war is "just." If he is convinced that the war is unjust, he conscientiously objects to participation in the armed forces, or take the much tougher course of accepting induction but refusing orders to take part in that particular conflict.
