Abstract
This 1849 3rd edition was issued simul in London, Manchester, New York and Philadephia. Due the lord MacCauley's vicious critique of William Penn issued in 1848 in his 5 volume history of England. This new edition after the 1813 1st English edition was issued with a new foreword in defense of William Penn by John Forster. This new edition includes an engraving of William Penn and the Indians, a fold out map of Pennsylvania and a large fold out of Penn's map of Philadelphia. The Life of William Penn by Thomas Clarkson who was famous for his role in the The abolition of the African Slave Trade, and his seminal two volume work issued in 1808 on the Slave Trade.
